Become a Patron

Patronage is the support, encouragement, privilege, or financial aid that an organization or individual bestows upon another. In the history of art, arts patronage refers to the support that kings, popes, and the wealthy have provided to artists such as musicians, painters, and sculptors. It can also refer to the right of bestowing offices or church benefices, the business given to a store by a regular customer, and the guardianship of saints. The word “patron” derives from the Latin: ‘patrons’ (“patron”), one who gives benefits to his clients.

Sometimes, it just takes a thief!

On the surface, it might appear that self-representing authors would not have expenses, but that would be far from the truth. There are supplies, cover art, professional editing, copyright fees, legal fees, etc, and we, unlike Mr or Ms. Famous Name, do not have the financial backing of a “brick ‘n mortar” publishing house or a hefty advance to help defray costs. We have to pay those costs upfront, hoping against hope that you, the public, will like the product enough that we can recoup at least part of those expenses.

As an independent, any expression of support is always most welcome. If you enjoy my content and would like to encourage me (or any other writer, artist or craftsperson), you can show your appreciation in one of several ways.

  • The first is by subscribing to my infrequent but always interesting newsletter, Rion’s Worlds. You can read more about that on the webpage.
  • The second is by your one-time donation, in any amount you wish, via my Paypal account. Any amount is always appreciated.
  • The third is by purchasing something from my Amazon Wishlist.
  • Another way to express your appreciation is by fueling my caffeine habit. I don’t write with ink, I write with coffee. Without a steady supply, the wheels (and mind) grind to a halt. You can ‘Buy Me A ‘Bucks’ via the widget in the right sidebar.
